custom beer-can coffin
Posted by: RochesterMN at 3:35PM EST on May 5, 2008
SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) _ Bill Bramanti will love Pabst Blue Ribbon eternally, and he's got the custom-made beer-can casket to prove it.
"I actually fit, because I got in here," said Bramanti of South Chicago Heights.
The 67-year-old Glenwood village administrator doesn't plan on needing it anytime soon, though.
He threw a party Saturday for friends and filled his silver coffin — designed in Pabst's colors of red, white and blue — with ice and his favorite brew.
"Why put such a great novelty piece up on a shelf in storage when you could use it only the way Bill Bramanti would use it?" said Bramanti's daughter, Cathy Bramanti, 42.
Bramanti ordered the casket from Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home in Chicago Heights, and Scott Sign Co. of Chicago Heights designed the beer can.

Islamic schools lure African boys into begging
Posted by: RochesterMN at 5:39PM EST on April 22, 2008
I had to share this moving story about child trafficing in Dakar, "AP IMPACT: Islamic schools lure African boys into begging." Here's an excerpt:
...It was still dark as he set out for the mouth of a freeway with the other boys, a tribe of 7-, 8- and 9-year-old beggars.
Coli padded barefoot between the stopped cars, his head reaching only halfway up the windows. His scrawny body disappeared under a ragged T-shirt that grazed his knees. He held up an empty tomato paste can as his begging bowl.
There are 1.2 million Colis in the world today, children trafficked to work for the benefit of others. Those who lure them into servitude make $15 billion annually, according to the International Labor Organization...

PB publishes announcement of same-sex couples committment ceremonies
Posted by: RochesterMN at 11:16AM EST on April 21, 2008
Here's the snip-it from the PB announcing they will publish announcement of same-sex couples committment ceremonies...
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT: We have a new approach to handling news of public commitment ceremonies by same-sex couples in our area: We'll publish them.
Readers can't get enough of engagement, wedding, anniversary, birth and obituary news. That's bread-and-butter information for newspapers, and we're always looking for ways to improve and expand what we do with community news of this kind.
We think news of same-sex couples making formal public commitments to each other is of interest to family, friends and the community at large.
What do you think of publishing same-sex couples engagement announcements?

Recently Sudanese family who live in Rochester, MN were able to sponser a show on Sudan TV. They were able to advertise their Media web site on the Sudan TV.
Advertising on TV as we all know is very costly. How is this family who live on Welfare and Public Asst. can afford this type of expenses.??

Why the Taxpayer have to pay????

They live in Rochester, Minnesota on puplbic asst. and welfare using the taxpayer money for their benefit. For example: Traveling to Sudan with their children the value of such a trip is between 10-20 thousand dollars. In sudan they are cruising and traveling to investigate the trouble in darfur. They taped over 7 videos tapes and broadcasted on their own web side. Trying to help Sudan governmnet and telling all the world there is no killing or problems in that region. My question is: Why we the taxpayer have to support such family who can afford to travel to the other side of the world. I have their names and their phone # and their side.
